Hi!  I’m James Daniel Williamson (“Jim” to everyone). I was born in Saskatoon,

Saskatchewan, Canada. I was named after the authors James Reaney and James Joyce. (So I was doubly destined to be a writer, I can’t help it)

When I was four years old my family settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where I attended Van Belleghem School and J. H. Bruns Collegiate. I later studied professional cartooning at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and was published in a few small newspapers before I switched to dramatic studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Winnipeg.

I had a variety of jobs in hospitality and customer service as well as many acting roles in stage, TV, radio and film productions. I played Stan Laurel in the Laurel & Hardy tribute company called Another Fine Mess as well as Charlie Chaplin in an improvisational mime act. Becoming an impressionist and stand-up comedian, I went on to tour theatres and clubs across Canada and into the U.S. in such well-received stage shows as 100 Celebrities in 45 Minutes (in which I played the entire cast), followed by I Gotta Be Them, The Divisible Man and The Return of The Divisible Man. I went on to play everyone from Arnold Schwarzenegger, Groucho Marx, Woody Allen, John Cleese and Jimmy Stewart to Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy in commercials.

I later attended RRC Polytech and received an Honours Diploma in Creative Communications and went on to work in web, radio, and TV before spending twelve years as a Senior Advertising Specialist with Manitoba Public Insurance where I wrote and produced many TV commercials, some of which won awards. Today I work for Relish as Marketing & Communications Coordinator.

I love pop culture, both ancient and modern.  I consider myself a good-natured realist; not a pessimist! (Where’s the pleasure in that?) I dislike ending written pieces in cliches, and yet…I am living my best life!
